Five Two Walnut Wooden Spoons

View Details
$22

When we set out to create the wooden spoons for the kitchen, you gave us thousands of your opinions—and with them, we designed five can-do tools. Now they’re back and even better than before: Your feedback told us the turner needed bigger holes for cleaning (check) and the 2-in-1 needed a slimmer design for getting into small jars (done).

  • Walnut wood
  • Handcrafted in Italy
  • Smooth, tapered handles
  • Vintage-inspired details

Good Working Spoon
The Five Two Walnut Wooden Spoon works well for my needs. I actually purchased 4 of them. 2 as gifts and 1 for me. I am pretty sure my friends will love the spoon. It works as advertised and I do hand wash the spoon is warm soapy water and I rub a Wood Preseving Food Safe Oil on the Spoon to help keep it treated and looking good.

Buy again
Amazing addition to my kitchen tools! I had purchased the first wood spatula that came out, it broke after a few months. Much better quality

Good, but needs extra work
The turner itself is ergonomic, but the wood is pretty rough, I'll need to sand it before further use. The Food52 customer service is great, though.

Not as nice as the picture
These spoons came and had not been seasoned or oiled so they feel a bit rough and food sticks to them quite easily. I will have to practically soak them in wood oil to make them reliable kitchen tools. Not impressed.

A bit rough
I like the offset turner but it’s not as smooth as it looks online or as thin. I will keep using it though.

Just okay
I hand washed and immediately thoroughly dried these spoons with a dry dishcloth, followed by a rub of oil, and they already look old and shaggy. They were beautiful at first and I don’t understand how they got tatty after one use. Bummer.

Pretty good. It is true
Pretty good. It is true this spoon is rough in a strange way and not responding to oil or sanding very well. Will hopefully soften up with age!

Not as good
I have older versions of these items. The first generation were better. The wood was smoother and more substantial.

Dry wood
I wish I had read the reviews rather than trusted my past Food52 Five Two experiences. Like many others, the spoon and turner we ordered arrived very dry in appearance. I immediately oiled them, and have done so several times since using but I feel like they're ready to crack. Or, give me a giant splinter. Because I thought for sure they would improve after a little TLC, we used them several times and now sadly cannot return. Only nice part is they're less expensive than what you see at Crate and Barrell or Williams & Sanoma, but I wish I'd just gone there instead!

Fuzzy, splintery, dry?
I recently bought 3 spoons from the Walnut Wooden Spoon collection and they are awful! They are rough and fuzzy like they need to be sanded. After only one use they're dry as a bone, and food grade mineral oil is barely helping. All the other wooden spoons I own (including my original Five Two 2-in-1 with the lighter wood!) are smooth to the touch and feel ""finished"" or treated in some way. These walnut spoons feel raw and hairy with splintery wood strings coming off. Unfortunately, I also got sent the wrong spoon twice so I ended up with a total of 5 spoons and they're all unusable.

Micro splinters.
Had to throw away both spoons as they had micro splinters. For the price I expected better.
