If there’s one thing I was put on the this earth to do, it’s to assure you that shareable dips do not have to be savory. Forget the Buffalo chicken and French onion and think about your favorite dessert—but in dip form. The internet has recently rediscovered this Sweet Cannoli Dip from Trader Joes, so I set out to make the perfect dupe for dunking, sharing, and even mixing in coffees.

The possibilities for such a delightful dip are endless: A dollop in morning yogurt bowls, scooping with cinnamon chips, spreading on warm toast, or frothing with heavy cream for iced lattes. Even better, this one makes it easier for you and your friends and family to enjoy dessert together without having to fuss about turning the oven on and taking on an elaborate baking project.

All you need is 8 ounces of mascarpone, 15 ounces of ricotta, 1 ¼ cup powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. That’s it. This amount of mascarpone and ricotta are the standard size containers that you buy at the grocery store, so the recipe is easy to double. You put all those ingredients together, whip it up with a hand mixer for a minute or two, and you’re ready to serve. To be extra creative, you can use espresso flavored mascarpone (this will give it a tiramisu flair), add chocolate chips, or even swirl in a tablespoon of pistachio spread.

Personally, I add espresso flavored mascarpone, all the chocolate chips I could find, and topped it off with some dark chocolate shavings. It was hard to stop eating once I got a taste, but then I added it to two shots of espresso and poured it over milk for one of my favorite iced lattes to date. I even had a dream last night that I used a big dollop of the dip to top a stack of pancakes and later used it as icing for a birthday cake. So yes, it has infiltrated my subconscious. It’s just that good.
