From the outside, Dani Stahl’s Bedford Hills house might seem quiet and understated. Step inside, though, and it’s a whole different story: a vibrant, playful retreat that somehow balances family-friendly functionality with personality at every turn. Just an hour from New York City, it’s her little country escape, perfectly accessible yet completely removed from the city’s pace.
Dani’s home reads like a carefully curated outfit: layered, colorful, and full of surprises. Gallery walls mix collected artwork with sentimental touches—like her daughters’ Mickey Mouse piggybank—while bold textiles and playful furniture inject a sense of whimsy. “I approach decorating the same way I approach dressing,” Dani says. “Every room should feel layered and joyful.”

Chiara de Rege has always been Dani’s go-to interior designer. “She got me started on the house and taught me everything I know. I’ve continued to work on it ever since,” Dani says. “Houses are like that if you’re a visual person. Which I am, as I’m sure you can see.” Chiara fully designed Dani’s New York apartment, but this Bedford Hills house has a different vibe entirely. There was never an actual renovation here, just thoughtful layering, curating, and editing over time.
Her fashion sensibility is everywhere: rooms that could feel chaotic instead feel deliberate, with color, pattern, and texture in perfect conversation. Graphic wallpapers, eclectic textiles, and unexpected furniture choices keep every corner interesting. Chandeliers for the main hall? They’re still on the wishlist, a reminder that her home is ever-evolving.

Family life is front and center. Her daughters’ personalities help shape the palette and energy of their rooms, while her husband appreciates spaces that are as livable as they are stylish. Every piece has purpose, every corner tells a story, and every day invites life in all its colorful, chaotic glory.

The result is a home that feels collected yet playful, sophisticated yet approachable. Dani’s objects—vintage finds, artwork, and keepsakes from childhood—sit alongside timeless furniture and lighting, creating a space that’s distinctly hers: a joyful, layered retreat where family and creativity flourish.
