What does it really take to run one of NYC’s most beloved bakeries? Our new series follows pastry chef and owner Tiara Bennett of The Pastry Box, where every day is a whirlwind—from pre-dawn baking sessions to managing custom orders, all while running the front counter with warmth and grit.
Tiara, a New York-native and culinary school grad, trained at legendary spots like Maialino and Café Boulud before opening her own East Village storefront. Now, she’s known citywide for her $2 chocolate chip cookie—thin, caramelized, and highly ranked by The Infatuation, Eater, and, well, pretty much every cookie list that matters.
But this isn’t just a baking show—it’s a behind-the-scenes look at radical hospitality, community-first leadership, and what it means to keep a small business alive in 2025. In the first episode (dropping this Wednesday!), you’ll see Tiara juggle early morning wake-ups, social media duties, and lines out the door—all while making every customer feel like a regular.
“My father always told me that owning a business is one of the ways that you can actually make it out of poverty," she said.
Come for the cookies. Stay for the story.
